A Poison Tree – Jul 14

August 24th, 2009 — 6:35pm

I was angry with my friend:
I told my wrath, my wrath did end.
I was angry with my foe:
I told it not, my wrath did grow.

And I water’d it in fears,
Night & morning with my tears;
And I sunned it with my smiles
And with soft deceitful wiles.

And it grew both day and night,
Till it bore an apple bright;
And my foe beheld it shine,
And he knew that it was mine,

And into my garden stole
When the night had veil’d the pole:
In the morning glad I see
My foe outstretch’d beneath the tree

Great things are done when men and mountains meet; this is not done by jostling in the street.

…And we pray, not for new
earth or heaven, but to be quiet
in heart, and in eye clear.
What we need is here.

-Wendell Berry

Sorry for not posting yesterday. I was in bed almost all day, and I also had a ton of homework I needed to catch up on. I got to the site, but first there was some error, and then .. well at least I thought I clicked the publish button. So here’s two for today. :] Enjoy.
